I have come to recognize the economic value of the family. During the last 100 years, America decided to replace the family and the good work that families do in providing food, clothing, shelter, and health care with government programs.
The problem is that government programs are very expensive. As more families become dependent upon government, costs rise and there is continual pressure to increase taxes. This will not stop until we recognize the economic value of the family and begin to build family capacity rather than fund government programs.
